Notes / Reviews

Blending Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian Percussion rhythms with harp, guitar, violin, piano and bass, this exquisite ensemble creates a unique string and percussion sound. This is an extraordinary group of outstanding musicians, who have performed with Tito Puente and Ruben Blades to Laura Nyro and the Grateful Dead. The ensemble is directed by Annette, who leads, arranges and writes some of the group's compositions.

Annette has performed and recorded with a host of Women's Music luminaries, including Casselberry-DuPre, Toshi Reagon, June Millington, and Lillian Allen; she was co-leader and founder of the Latin Jazz S.F. Bay Area band Chevere.

Co-produced by vibe & percussion player Vivian Stoll, veteran of the early Women's Music scene, and vibe player on Kay Gardner's A Rainbow Path.

On harp and percussion here: Ellen Uryevick, who some of you might remember her from her days with the Harp Band - Ellen also performed and recorded with Margie Adam and Laura Nyro.

Selected as Latin Jazz Ambassadors of 2003 for the U.S Sate Department and the Kennedy Center, this versatile group toured Southern Africa and Rwanda, sharing their knowledge of the music of the Americas and the Caribbean.
