Previously released in 1974 on her own label, Mary Records, this cookin' album of instrumental jazz for piano and back-up musicians is a must-have for serious collectors, as well as for beginners wanting a deeper appreciation of women's contributions to the genre. The legendary artist, who composed and performed during all of the major eras of jazz, brought together on this album many of the compositions she liked to play in concert or in clubs: Play It Momma, Rosa Mae, Gloria, and other originals. Each selection stands in its own right, but they all blend together to form a whole; part of her concept of musical zoning. This 1995 re-release also includes 2 previously unreleased tracks.
