Hasu Patel, a disciple of Sitar Legend Ustad Vilayat Khan Saheb, is one of the few world-class female musicians performing on Sitar, the most popular string instrument of India. As a performer and composer, she has dedicated her life to preserving and propagating the traditional music of ancient India in its pristine purity. She holds a music degree with honors and awards. Her playing on Sitar replicates fluidity and subtle nuances of the human voice. She often collaborates with Western Classical and Jazz musicians. She is the performing artist in the presenting/Touring program for Ohio Arts Council, Artists-in-School program of Greater Columbus Arts Council, Mid-Atlantic Art Alliance, International Alliance of Women in Music, The ChildrenÂs Music Network and PAND. She conducts residencies/workshop, lecture-demonstrations and performs ÂRaga Sangeet at schools/universities, Performing Arts Centers, Music Conferences, Classical Dance Assembles, Radio, Television, Churches, Temples, Meditation Centers, World and Jazz Music Festivals. She weaves an elaborate sound that captivates audiences in concerts such as Woodstock, Chicago Jazz Festival and Rheinberger Chamber (Cleveland Orchestra).
