This ensemble features 4 women from different First Nations who all reside at the Wahta Mohawk Territory in Ontario, Canada. Their name means "the good seeds", which represents the songs, teachings and good way of life that the group shares with all others.

Songs range from traditional to contemporary, with the use of hand or water drum, cow horn rattles and exquisite vocals: together they form sounds and harmonies that are spiritually uplifting to their audiences.

The Kananhi:io Singers were nominated for a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award for Best Contemporary/ Traditional CD.
