Power bluegrass/country -- with a feminist bent!
6 newly recorded songs, 5 original live performance videos from the 70s, 4 years of being back together, 3 best friends, 2 years giving (musical) birth = 1 very fine CD!
During The Deadly Nightshade's first incarnation, this ground-breaking three-woman band -- one of the first feminist bands in existence -- went from playing four sets a night in New England's most raucous rock and country dive bars, to recording two albums for RCA's custom label Phantom and berths in the archives of the Smithsonian Institute's Women's History collection and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
In between, they played major concert clubs and music festivals throughout the USA, including the 10th anniversary National Women's Music Festival ... where the 5 live performance videos -- available only on this physical CD -- were recorded.
These vintage music videos feature live performances of their recorded hits during the 70s including High Flying Woman; Shuffle; Dance, Mr. Big, Dance; Ain't I A Woman; and Fiddle Medley.
Thirty years later, the band has reunited to record new songs, play more gigs, catalyze much fun. And they're never, never gonna stop.
