Notes / Reviews
Judy's 2007 recording is a fabulous double CD of her live performance at The Artery in Melbourne in December 2006. These exceptional 25 songs comprise this 25th Anniversary album (her first album, 'A Natural Selection,' was released in 1982). Features old favourites Song for Jacqueline; Mothers, Daughters, Wives; La Vie en Pose; plus wonderful new songs Widow in Waiting, Under Control, Anchor and Sail. It's all acoustic - just Judy (in fine voice!) and her guitar, a second lead guitarist/back-up singer, and a violin. Disk One Stolen Gems (first recorded for Mosaic in 2003) When Cecilia Sings (first recorded for Global Village in 1995) Fifty Something (first recorded for Mosaic in 2003) Mary Parker's Lament (first recorded for A Natural Selection in 1982) Montreal, December '89 (first recorded for Snapshot in 1990) Charlesworth Bay (first recorded for Snapshot in 1990) Never Rock 'n' Rollers (first recorded for Snapshot in 1990) Song for Jacqueline (first recorded for Home Front in 1988) Global Village (first recorded for Global Village in 1995) The IPD (first recorded for One Voice in the Crowd in 1985) Widow in Waiting (This is the song's first recording) How Many Times (first recorded for Home Front in 1988) You Don't Speak for Me (first recorded for Home Front in 1988) Disk Two Joseph Nkolo is Singing (first recorded for Mosaic in 2003) Walls and Windows (first recorded for One Voice in the Crowd in 1985) Song of my Father (first recorded for Mosaic in 2003) There's Life in the Old Girl Yet (first recorded for Mosaic in 2003) The White Bay Paper Seller (first recorded for Ladies and Gems/ Mothers, Daughters, Wives in 1984) From the Lambing to the Wool (first recorded for Ladies and Gems/ Mothers, Daughters, Wives in 1984) Love is a Fearsome Thing (first recorded for Global Village in 1995) La Vie en Pose (first recorded for Global Village in 1995) Everything Possible (first recorded for Let the Rainbow Shine) Anchor and Sail (this is the song's first recording by Judy Small) Mothers, Daughters, Wives (first recorded for A Natural Selection in 1982) Under Control (this is the song's first recording)
