Here is the latest from an artist whose themes are always timely as she sings directly to our hearts and minds.
Created in the comfort of her own home studio (set up just for this project), Judy (previously a bit studio-shy) particularly enjoyed making this recording. Audiences will recognize Stolen Gems, a song written for Ruby Hunter about being part of the stolen Aboriginal generations, and Song of My Father, Judy's poignant tribute to her father, who died when she was just a teenager. Another familiar song is a revised and rearranged version of Our Best Friend , a protest against war and against ways that the differences between us are used to instill fear and dread rather than being celebrated.
New songs include There's Life in the Old Girl Yet, We'll Never Lose Hope, and Wanted Woman.
Judy also offers a couple of songs she says she wishes she had written herself: Days Like These by Janis Ian, and Ewan McColl's Nobody Knew She Was There about the unseen and thankless tasks carried out by so many women who maintain the order we take for granted in our everyday lives.
