The voice is breathy, at times sultry with the slightest bit of an edge, the lyrics poignant. Everything you might look for in a folk-rock album, Eileen delivers on her 1996 solo debut. If you remember her from her Theories of the Old School days, youÂll be pleased to know that she hasnÂt lost much in losing the band; in fact, the more limited instrumental back-up gives the songs a raw simplicity that was the best part of the Old School anyway. As for a recommendation, suffice it to say IÂll probably sneak off with the demo copy myself!
