This 1998 compilation subtitled Songs By Our Friends features some of the best and brightest of the North Carolina Triangle area's much-lauded independent music community. Released to benefit Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Pittsboro NC and their shelter for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, it features female and male artists, both high profile acts such as Squirrel Nut Zippers and Whiskeytown, as well as great up-and-coming acts such as Faustina and Trailer Bride (who have been featured in Girlfriends Magazine). If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing NC's local music, this is a great intro for a great cause, and all the tracks are previously unreleased to delight current fans.
