This septet of African American women was originally founded by musical activist Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, who retired from Sweet Honey in 2005. The members carry on the group's mission by using their voices and occasional percussion to make a most joyful noise that blends gospel, folk, jazz and blues in music with positive, uplifting messages. This 2007 release contains 18 songs that should particularly connect with young listeners, extolling the virtues of hope, education, family, and activism.
