Notes / Reviews
This 2-CD set has come into the world just a few months after the artist's passing. Almost every Nina Simone song you might be looking for is contained on this release; it's a wonderful collection with which to remember her, and to appreciate and rejoice in her gift.

On April 21, 2003, the world mourned the loss of Nina Simone - one of its most influential, prolific and gifted singers. Her first single, 1959's I Loves You Porgy, was an unexpected hit; from there, she built an iconic career over the next 4 decades. As an artist, her range was unmatched: she moved easily from soul to jazz, folk to Broadway, classical to gospel. She was one of the most eloquent and outspoken artists in the Civil Rights movement; several of her most famous songs, including Mississippi Goddam and To Be Young, Gifted and Black testify to her power as a social critic.

This retrospective celebrates the life and legacy of this eloquent vocalist with recordings from across her career, and is the first collection to bring together the best of her material from multiple recording labels.

Includes the previously unreleased song The Glory of Love.
