Another lovely and inspirational work from the artist who first brought us The Woman's Boat years ago. This 2009 release includes Toni's Emmy award-winning song Because You're Beautiful which was originally written for the V-Day documentary Until The Violence Stops. To explain the significance of this song, the artist writes, "During the song writing process for Because You're Beautiful, I became inspired to write a book called Living Beauty: The Alchemy of Acceptance. The book explores my personal revelations regarding our collective concepts of beauty and power, and the negative impact one popular religious myth has had on the 21st century woman. Living Beauty asks: 'what ancient bones/systems of belief have contributed to the formation of a stunted feminine psyche, and what is the antidote?' It also delves into our belief systems as women in western culture, and where these beliefs have arisen from: sources such as family, culture, and religion."
