Angelique's 1998 release is an exciting mixture of sounds, uniting the rhythms and spirits of Africa with the grooves and vibes of such diverse styles as Hip-Hop, Afro-Celtic, and Jazz... creating a more pronounced contemporary R&B feel. Branford Marsalis contributes his creative saxophone stylings to the funky Itche Koutche; Angelique's daughter makes her singing debut on Loloye; and jazz songstress Cassandra Wilson contributes her earthbound scat harmonies to the duet Never Know. Angelique also revitalizes Hendrix's Voodoo Child (Slight Return). A very worthwhile listen!
