Critical reception

Jessica Phillips of Country Weekly rated the album two-and-a-half stars out of five, criticizing most of the songs for having an "uninspired" sound but praising both members' voices. Country Standard Time writer Jeffrey B. Remz also praised the duo's singing voices, but criticized the rock influences in the production and the "formulaic" song choices. Matt Bjorke of Roughstock gave the album three-and-a-half stars out of five, complimenting the album at "giving music fans a complete idea of what Susie and Danelle can do." He found fault in some of the "production choices," but concluded that "this record, as a collective whole, is a success."

The JaneDear Girls debuted at number 46 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and number 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart selling 10,307 copies in its first week. As of the chart dated March 19 2011, the album has sold 32,915 copies.

Artist/Band Information

The JaneDear Girls is an American country duo, consisting of Susie Brown (vocals, mandolin, fiddle) from Alpine, Utah, and Danelle Leverett (vocals, guitar, banjo) from Amarillo, Texas. The duo has signed with Warner Music Group Nashville's Reprise label and released its debut single, "Wildflower." This song has charted on Hot Country Songs. The album's second single "Shotgun Girl" released to country radio on March 21, 2011.

Biography

Danelle Leverett and Susie Brown met while at a songwriters' concert in Nashville, Tennessee. After being introduced to each other by songwriter Kris Bergsnes, they began writing songs together and later decided to form a duo, also by suggestion of Bergsnes. They chose to name the duo The JaneDear Girls because their original name, JaneDeere, resulted in a cease and desist from John Deere.

The duo signed with Reprise Records' Nashville division. John Rich (of Big & Rich) signed on as their record producer, and began mentoring them as well. In mid-2010, Reprise released the duo's debut single, "Wildflower." The song has made Top 15 on the Hot Country Songs charts. The album's second single "Shotgun Girl" will be released to country radio on March 21, 2011, and debuted on the Hot Country Songs chart at number 55 and re-entered as a single at 58.

In January 2011, they were nominated for their first award: the Academy of Country Music Awards's Top New Vocal Duo or Group.
