His fourth album, Different and the Same, is composed solely of other people's songs, but many of the tunes take on new meanings. Tommy Tutone's trashy 80's classic 867-5309/Jenny is now about Jimmy, and Trisha Yearwood's country hit What I Like About You suits a man admiring another man's masculine and feminine qualities. Weigle's friendly croon and comfortable folk-rock arrangements bridge the gaps between sources with an artist's grace. Without changing a word, he turns Rosanne Cash's The Truth About You from a woman's acceptance of her lover's vulnerabilities into a queer man's confrontation of a closet case on his ability to 'take it like a man.' The latent truths in these songs have been waiting for someone to sing them.
